Join our team of occupational therapists for weekly handwriting group sessions that support children to master their lower and uppercase letters. This program aims to help 5-10 year-olds change their mindset and have a positive attitude towards handwriting by using various sensory based activities and fun group games.
Each child who completes the program will also receive their very own handwriting master certificate!
Irabina’s Handwriting Groups are based off the Learning without Tears Program, which is an evidence-based intervention.
Stage 1 equips children with foundational skills for writing upper-case letters. Children will learn how to turn “big lines, little lines, big curves and little curves” into letters. We will also run through the correct starting points of capital letters using letter families.
In stage two we will focus on lower-case letters, and the correct placement of letters on dotted thirds. We will aim to support your child to learn correct formation of letters, how to hold a writing utensil, use of assisting hand and posture.
The Irabina Handwriting Group is run by two of Irabina’s Occupational Therapists and will meet weekly during Term 3 and 4 of 2023.
Skill-building: this program helps also helps children develop their fine motor, co-ordination and social skills.
