The NDIS can provide all people with disability with information and connections to services in their communities such as doctors, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national program that is the new funding for people with disabilities in Australia. When fully rolled out it will provide about 460,000 Australians aged under 65, who have permanent and significant disability with funding for supports and services.
For children, young people and their families, there used to be a number of funding streams, but they now are all rolled into the NDIS model.
The ECEI approach supports children aged 0-6 years who have a developmental delay or disability, and their families/carers. The ECEI approach supports families to help children develop the skills they need to take part in daily activities and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life.
The NDIS has engaged Early Childhood Partners around Australia to deliver the ECEI approach. Early Childhood Partners are experienced in providing early childhood intervention.
The Department of Social Services manages two early childhood disability intervention programs – HCWA and Better Start. These programs provide supports to help make sure children with disability have the same choices, opportunities and experiences as other children.
HCWA and Better Start are transitioning to the NDIS. As the NDIS is rolled out across Australia, the programs will be progressively phased out. New registrations for HCWA and Better Start close when the NDIS becomes available in a location.
