ROLE PURPOSE

The role is to assume the role of Team Leader – Small group programs (Special education) in a trans-disciplinary team of professionals committed to family centred practice. The role is both profession specific and one of skilled early intervention worker and family service coordinator. The role requires the Team Leader to facilitate our Global Learning and Development Program, as well as supervise staff working in our Transdisciplinary Small Group Program. This role requires a strong understanding of the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis, which are strongly utilised in our Global Learning and Development Program.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Appropriate Special Education Teacher Qualification and current registration with Special Education Teacher Australia
  • Completed or enrolled in post graduate studies in Applied Behaviour Analysis (e.g., Masters in Education ABA, Monash University, or BCBA)
  • Strong understanding of the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • At least 7 years’ experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Experience in paediatric therapy service provision in small groups
  • Implementation of principles of, and dedication to evidence-based practice
  • Implementation of the principles of family centred practice
  • Able to provide evidence of strong leadership skills

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 kilos.
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include schools, and community placements.
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites within the Melbourne Metropolitan Area.
