Early Intervention:
Individual programs involving all developmental areas. These may be conducted at home, or in the
Centre. This includes Motor Programs and Sensory Integration Programs in the gymnasium and
Water Play and Awareness in the pool.
Pre-school/Childcare:
Irabina provides a Visiting Teacher Service to assist the children's inclusion in normal
pre-school or childcare.
Consultancy:
Support at home and/or in generic and specialist centres for children who may not necessarily
be attending at Irabina but have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Our psychologists work in conjunction with the other team members to assist families with some of the added responsibilities they have when a child has Autism. Different families need different solutions, and a variety of services are offered.
Information sessions are given on topics such as stress management for parents, solving sleeping problems, helping siblings, managing others' reactions, exploring treatment options and looking to the future.
Facilitated parent groups are offered for parents to explore and develop their own resources in a supportive environment over a few weeks.
Coffee mornings give busy parents an occasional chance to meet other Irabina parents over morning tea.
Counselling/consultancy can be arranged for individuals and families.
The Psychologists also work with the rest of the staff in developing and reviewing Family Service & Support Plans, liaising with other agencies and assisting families to meet their child's needs while promoting family well-being.
